Portell Computers

Our first class was intense!  I am sure a few of you felt overwhelmed by the amount of information presented in the Hardware Section.  The software class is 2/22/2012 and our next Hardware class starts on 2/23/2012.

We wish to thank you all for your support and suggestions in making this a great experience for all.

Tammy’s first Tech Tip

A dusty room can lead to a computer nightmare.  Dust is easily sucked into the power supply and computer case.  As the dust collects, it will restrict airflow throughout the computer.  The restrictive airflow will cause computer components to overheat and shorten their lifespan.  To help combat of a dusty computer, we recommend getting your computer off the floor and on top of a table or shelf.  Every 3 months unplug the computer, pop the computer case off the computer, and carefully use an air compressor to blow out all of the dust.  Never spin the fans inside the computer during this process due to it will burn out the bearings with the force. A paperclip works great to hold the fan in place while running the air compressor. You will be surprised how this will affect the cooling of your computer and decrease those hardware problems.
